Update: If It's Broke, Fix It

Hello again!

I'm still not quite ready to get going on the weekly blog posts but I certainly have been preparing.  I've got the photography side of things organized, I've done a bit more reading (because that's what I do) about retirement life and I've made progress in my plans to have more structure to my days and weeks.

I have finally finished all of the training to begin volunteering at ARCH (a residential community hospice here in the Sault) and wait for it...

I just agreed to return to my former employment as an Occupational Therapist on a temporary casual basis.  I know, I know, I gave up my license when I retired, swearing that I was DONE WITH OT for good (not that I didn't love the work that I did, just that I felt 31 years was enough).  I always planned on finding part time or temporary jobs in fields of interest that didn't require the same brain power and energy as my career did but OT was out.

Never say never or you'll have to eat your words.

Two weeks ago, I was begged by a friend and former colleague to apply for a maternity leave position with my former employer and because of some of my concerns around my first year of retirement (to be discussed as the blog progresses), I actually considered it.  Over the weekend, it sounded better and better and I got in touch with the manager to talk about employment alternatives that they might consider. Today I got the call from HR with terms agreeable to both me and the organization.  I just applied to get my license back (by giving the Association and College a ton of money) and hopefully soon, I will be registered to practice OT in Ontario again.

So that's that.  I'm expecting to get the weekly posts up and running by mid July (about two weeks late by my initial timeline).  In the meantime, here are a few photos I took over the past couple of weeks.

Puppeeeeees!  This beauty is five weeks old. She (or he) is not mine.  A friend farm/kennel sits and there's a litter of these babies right now, all happy for love and cuddles.

I love peonies but I wish they lasted longer.

My mom and dad are visiting and we made a trip to Adcock Gardens on St. Joseph Island.  I stalked some insects.

That's it for now.  See you in a few weeks.

  1. The thing is, OT is much more lucrative than anything else we know how todo! Welcome back to the fold!
