Tea Anyone?

It was only relatively recently that I discovered my love of tea.  Until then, if you had offered me a cup of tea, I absolutely would have refused and maybe not even been polite about it.  My only experience with tea growing up was the Tetley Orange Pekoe my mother drank (and continues to drink) and that definitely wasn't my "cup of tea." 😁  I have vividly odiferous memories of road trips when my mom would open her thermos in the front seat to have another cup and the smell would knock me off my sleeping bag (laid out side by side with the other three in the back of the station wagon to claim our personal space).  The tea doesn't offend me now but boy oh boy, back then I couldn't stand it.  I didn't know that other teas existed so I assumed tea was not for me.

Fast forward a few decades and my discovery of a whole world of tea that exists beyond Tetley Orange Pekoe.  I can't recall how I was first introduced to tea alternatives - likely at someone's home I guess.  And I'm not sure how I discovered DAVIDsTEA - probably walking by it in the mall when they still had actual stores.  Regardless of how it happened, I am definitely a tea convert.  Although there are still many, many types of teas I continue to dislike either for taste or smell, I have a wide variety of teas I love in my tea drawer and on my tea shelves.  Let's have a look, shall we?

I believe this photo says it all.

I wish DAVIDsTEA was a business that gave dividends...I would cash in for sure!

I enjoy my teas in many forms...black, latte and iced.  This iced tea steeper is well used, particularly in the summer but occasionally during the colder weather too.

One of my fruit teas - hibiscus splash I believe.

My colour changing mug.  I'll admit that the novelty wore off rather quickly but it's still a great mug for tea.  Now a little lecture about drinking vessels...DO NOT use tea mugs of any sort for coffee and vice versa!!  Hot chocolate can go in either the coffee or the tea mug but that is the only crossover drink.  End of lecture.

Cinnamon rooibos chai - my all time favourite.  When I run out, I try to tell myself to drink more of the other teas before ordering more of this but I usually cave very quickly.

This is Candy Cane Crush.  It's a black tea so I can only drink it early in the day due to the caffeine but it is super yummy as a latte.  I stocked up when I was at the ACTUAL store in Ottawa in the fall because it is a seasonal item and it won't be available again for a year.  I did have what I thought was a cool photo of a latte (in yet another DAVIDsTEA mug) but when I looked at it on the computer, it was blurry for some reason.  Maybe there'll be a reason to reshoot that later in the year.

Having a bit of a tea addiction can lead to a bit of a tea accessory addiction.  Fortunately I am well past that phase and all of my tea paraphernalia is well-loved (aka old, looking worn and tea stained).

There is my little homage to tea.  Talk to you again next week.
